The Amsterdam based design agency Lava moves around with a mobile design studio during the Beijing Design Week 2013. In the narrow alleys of  one of the oldest hutong neighbourhoods, local businesses are offered a new logo design free of charge, showing them the added value of Dutch Design.

September 26th, the mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, launched Lava’s mobile design studio and drove along with the electrically powered vehicle. Van der Laan is in Beijing as part of the Beijing Design Week representing the city of Amsterdam as 'Special Guest City'.

A beautiful series of logo’s were created in the first few days and the local businesses were really happy with the results. Some offered the design team a free meal or opend a bottle of local spirits to express their gratitude. At some times people queue up to get their own new logo.

The Beijing Design Week takes place from September 26 and lasts until October 3, 2013.

The mobile design team will continue to provide its services in Istanbul, Moscow and Seoul in the upcoming months.

Project has been realised in collaboration with Salon / BJ and is supported by the Creative Industries Fund.
